Microchip

The microchip must be implanted BEFORE the rabies vaccine is administered.  Dogs, cats and ferrets must be identified by an ISO compliant microchip. The United Kingdom currently accepts AVID 9 and AVID 10 in addition to ISO.

Primary Rabies Vaccination

Current one- or three-year vaccination administered right after the microchip implant (same day or after).  Rabies must be given 21 days prior to entering any EU country.

Health Certificate

Non-commercial move: if you are flying within five days of your pet; the timeline for the paperwork process results in easier logistics and less stress

Commercial move: if you are NOT flying within five days of your pet, the timeline is stricter, and there is absolutely NO room for error.

Tapeworm Treatment

Tapeworm-required for the following countries: Ireland, Finland, Malta, and Norway.  Dogs ONLY must be treated by a USDA Accredited Veterinarian between 24 and 120 hours (1 and 5 days) before entering the U.K. The medication used must be labeled as an effective treatment against tapeworms, specifically echinococcus multilocularis.
