USA to the UAE - International Pet Transport Overview

Microchip
Cats and dogs must be identified with a microchip.

Rabies Vaccination
A rabies vaccination has been administered at least 21 days prior to arrival into the UAE. The age of the animal at the time of vaccination should not be less than 3 months (12 weeks). The vaccine name, manufacturer, batch number, vaccination date, vaccine labels, and any treatments given to the animal should be included on the vaccination certificate.

Core Vaccinations
Original vaccine labels MUST be affixed to the vaccination record
- Dogs – Canine distemper virus, Canine parvovirus, Canine parvovirus, Canine parvovirus
- Cats- Feline Panleukopenia, Feline Rhinotracheitis, Feline Calicivirus

FANV Test
Not more than 12 months prior to export, the pet must be subjected to an antibody titer test for rabies with a result of ≥ 0.5 IU/ml. Testing should not be conducted until 3 weeks after primary rabies vaccination or if previous vaccination validity has lapsed.

Import Permit
To request the import permit, the basic requirements must be complete. An import permit is mandatory for ALL pets arriving to the UAE.

Parasite Treatment
Must be done within 14 days prior to travel
- External parasite treatment (recommend Fipronil or Permethrin)
- Internal parasite treatment (recommend Praziquantel)

Health Certificate
To be completed by your private USDA Accredited Veterinarian within 10 days of departure and endorsed by the USDA.
