The Pet Porters are USDA-certified intermediate handlers,

#74-H-0127; licensed, insured and Pet CPR & First Aid certified. We are expert domestic pet shipping handlers with the experience to manage various breeds and species. We deliver safe pet relocation services cost to cost. All pets travel in a size-appropriate kennel riding in climate-controlled vehicles. Dogs are walked double-leashed and wear a Marco Polo RF Tracker on a harness for additional safety in an emergency. Our handlers provide 24-hour care of our client's pets from pick up and on the road until your pet is delivered by ground safely.

How Do We Do It?

Before and at time of pickup

  • The itinerary of the planned route is provided with dates, estimated city destinations noted along the route, and contacts noted.
  • Review travel supplies required for the safety and comfort of your pet. Supplies may include a leash, harness, collar, food, treats, prescribed medication, blanket or bed, and toy. If the owner does not have a travel kennel for their pet, The Pet Porters will be happy to supply a kennel for the trip.
  • Documentation review - health certificate plus a copy of current rabies certificate is required.
  • Pet profile outlining feeding and medication schedule, behaviors, etc. will be requested

Day of Trip

  • Text group communication: You, your pet handler, and the Pet Travel Specialist are included to monitor the drive and keep you informed.
  • Driver will arrive to collect your pet and the fun begins
  • Marco Polo RF Tracker attached to your pets harness for additional safety

En Route

  • Photo updates of pet along the route; local landmarks, state signs etc. when possible (Note: Our drivers do NOT text and drive but will send updates at periodic stops during the day)
  • Dogs: double leashed for all nature breaks and walks (~4-6 hours)
  • Cats: litter box and proper bedding provided inside the kennel for comfort; cleaned frequently
  • Water is always available for the pet inside kennel
  • Food and medication are given as directed
  • Overnight stays in pet friendly hotels with the handler; often on the bed or in kennel if directed

At Time of Delivery

  • Safe delivery of your pet to you, a boarding facility or authorized person of your choice
  • Return of all supplies provided at time of pickup; excluding food & treats consumed during trip
